half way there...

half way there..., originally uploaded by pejnolan.

This will be a two block print: black and a watercolor wash for contrast between the forground and background. I really need to work faster to have as many new works as I want for the Bliss Bead show. If anyone wants to purchase some Japanese woodblock tools because they just won the lottery and have nothing better to do with their windfall, I wouldn't complain. I'm trying out some birch instead of my usual linoeum. I like it in some respects, but not in others. It's good to try new things.
This tree was at Ellison Bay Bluff Headlands Park in Door County, Wisconsin.

I really like the way you carve your trees! It's funny, we are on about the same page at the same time. I just tried wood vs. linoleum for the first time in August. I had a lot of trouble with the grainy areas on the first attempt, but the second is on birch as well, and is going better. I do think there may be something a little better about printing off it.

Thank you very much Starkeyart! I love you work. It is what I aspire to. Maybe sometime we could do a trade? I have so much to learn about the processes and materials and just how everything feels. It is exciting.

Same here about the learning process. I've been at this a little over a year, and have been taking it seriously since January. How about you? It is exciting! And so tactile...how the ink should feel, how much pressure to apply with the baren, the feel of the paper. It's appealing to multiple senses.

I would love to trade sometime. I still am at a place where I find some kind of fault with almost everything I've done, but if you see something you like, just let me know.

Meant to add, thanks for the compliment.
