I wanted this little guy to be camouflaging in with the background. The red "N" in the circle is from an initial stamp I bought years and years ago. J. took the reference photo: www.flickr.com/photos/pejnolan/3475730197/
Thanks, Bri! I haven't really studied other prints. But I have looked over early Japanese and German styles. I really want to show pattern and texture. I love aboriginal art, but don't want to outright copy that style, so I use symbolism and patterning. I also am learning how to use different sized tools to their advantage.

I am absolutely terrified of toads, but yours is pretty darn cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathleen! I added gold ink to the spots on the bottom after this photo was taken. He's really cute now!
ReplyDeleteI think he's pretty cute anyway as is, but I'd really like to see the gold spots, sounds great. You did a great camo job. I love his expression :)
ReplyDeleteI've added a photo of the series showing the gold metallic paint. Thanks Amie.
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I find really old prints that look like this a lot - you've got a classic style!
